Ba Ria-Vung Tau is located in the Southern Vietnam, to the northeast of the Mekong Delta. It is a popular resort approximately 120 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The province is inhabited by people of the Kinh, as well as the Hoa and Tay ethnic groups.

There are beautiful beaches, such as Back, Front, and Dau Beaches, located in the southern part of Vung Tau. Con Dao Island, approximately 90 km southeast of Vung Tau, has a dense forest with various kinds of animals. The sea in this area is home to various valuable marine species.

Vung Tau is 125km from Saigon.

Road: Vung Tau Bus Station is at 52 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, 1.5km from centre of town. Express buses leave for Ba Ria, Long Hai, Bien Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Long Khanh, My Tho, and Tay Ninh.

Minibuses: leave for Ho Chi Minh City at 21 Tran Hung Dao Ave. every 30 minutes starting at 4 am (it takes 2-3 hours).

Air: There are chartered helicopter flights available from Vung Tau to the Con Dao Islands. There is a flight from Vung Tau to Con Son Island on Saturday at 7.30 am, returning to Vung Tau on Sunday at 4 pm. Boat: Vina Express operates hydrofoils from central Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau. It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes and costs US$ 10 one way for foreigners.

Boat: to Con Dao Islands: Con Dao Transportation, 430 Truong Cong Dinh St., (Tel: 859 089) arranges one or two trips weekly.
