Chau Doc is home for many Khmer, Cham and Chinese and is only a few kilometers from the Cambodian border. Chau Doc is one of the most beautiful places in Mekong Delta. There are numerous of these floating fish farms and floating houses under which people cultivate fish and freshwater shrimps in nets and wire baskets – a major export product of the region. Coming there tourists will have chance to take a boat trip to visit many floating raft houses and fish farms and get more experience about lifestyle of local people.

Day 1 HO CHI MINH CITY – MY THO – CHAU DOC (Lunch/Dinner)

my tho_resizeMorning we drive to My Tho town. Take a boat trip on Tien River to get to the other side (Ben Tre land).  Sight-seeing fish farms, floating fish market along the Dragon Island on the way. Through Xep canal in Ben Tre (land of coconuts) to see coconut collection set and how the locals make handicrafts from coconut trunk and shell. Enjoy seasonal fruits and listening to traditional music. Take the horse-cart on village path and stop at Mr Nam Ngo orchard, taste honey with tea or wine. See bees-breeding in wooden boxes under longan tree. Take rowing-boat along water palm creek. Lunch on an islet. Boat to see local people make coconut candy, taste candy (special products of Ben Tre province), then back to pier. Then rejoin the car and transfer to Chau Doc. Dinner and overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 2 CHAU DOC (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)


Morning we check out and transfer 25 km to Tra Su Cajuput Forest and from there we take a boat trip to visit Tra Su ecological forest in the area of over 800 ha. There are so many of bird kinds here above the evergreen Cajuput trees living almost around the year in water. We can take rowing boat to travel deeper inside the forest to study about the rich fauna and flora here. Have lunch at Tra Su forest. In the afternoon, we drive to visit Tuc Dup Hill which is named 2 Million Dollar Hill for amount worth of bombs in that location. This hill is famous as a military base for Vietnamese soldiers in the war against the US forces. Continue to visit the killing fields at Ba Chuc, otherwise known as the Bone Pagoda. The pagoda stands as a grisly reminder of the horrors perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge. A memorial stupa about 3500 skulls to the Ba Chuc massacre sits in a field near a group of pagodas. Transfer back to Chau Doc and we drive to Sam Mountain to view Cambodia border at sunset. Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 3 CHAU DOC – HO CHI MINH CITY (Breakfast/Lunch)

Xeo QuytAfternoon transfer onto a local boat for the visit of a village of the Muslim Cham minority, and a fish floating village on Mekong River. Pick up by car and transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City. On the way, we stop to visit Xeo Quyt, unique former military base of the Communist soldiers, enjoy pleasant boat trips and walk through reedy swamps, canals, eucaliptus and ivi forest. You will see the real activity of local Vietnamese both side of the canal. Following your tour head back to Ho Chi Minh City. End of the tour.
